So you're interested in Roller Derby, but you don't want to invest a ton of money until you're sure you really love it? These are great beginner skates. They're nylon, so you don't really need to worry about the break-in period (just make sure they fit right out of the box).

If you you find you love derby, you'll probably end up upgrading, but by then you'll know what you want out of skate. If you don't love derby, then you still have some good skates for the rink.

My one major complaint about the R3 is that it doesn't come in half sizes.
